A fresher Stamford team tore into Haileybury from the off scoring an early try. Haileybury bounced back with a good team try from Reuben Lock. Haileybury conceded two crucial tries through a charge down and an unfortunate bounce of the ball from a Haileybury attack. Captain Finn Newton scored a cracker but, despite continued pressure the hosts couldn’t force any further scores.

Turning around with the slope the home team were optimistic but Stamford were excellent, making very few errors and being clinical. The home side weren’t quite at their best and made too many errors to allow them to get into their flow. They managed a consolation try but it wasn’t near enough in a 36-15 defeat. Lucas Osman and Matt Wright were outstanding.
